Task (1):Trained hard,backed out from competition.

John grew up in the love of basketball.Basketball was his life,his everything.Every single match,competiton meant a lot to him.His dream was to excel in the tournament held annually.

John put basketball ahead of everything,but still continue to do exceptionally well for his studies.John really balances his time well.He never fails to attend the trainings weekly.His trainings are never easy.He had to run rounds after rounds around his school,followed by various forms of excercises.At the most he was only given a five minute break.John's entire face would be wet with pesperation.His jerseys would be soaked in sweat.This is his usual fatigue look after each training.Nevertheless,no one has ever heard his complaints.He never gives up.That lead him to be the captain of his team.He was a good role model for his team mates.As the tournament is round the corner,his trainings got tougher and tougher each time.This was when his mother health detoriated.She always loses her appetite and seldom eats.She had no energy to walk.She fainted several times when she was alone at home.This was when she was admitted to hospital.It was a huge blow to John.There was suddenly no one to take care of all his needs,he had to be independent.Instead he was needed to take care of his mother as his father is busy at work till night falls.

He felt lost as it was a tough choice.Taking care of his mother means having to sacrifice his training time.Furthermore,the tournament is just a few days away.He hesitated and pondered for a long time before deciding to back out from the tournament.He knew it deep inside his heart that all his efforts would be wasted.But,its after all a tournament,he still have a chance to participate next year if he try again.He only have a mother,so he feels that he made the right choice.He bared his choice to his coach and fellow teammates.Despite his teammates encouraging him to take part in the competition,he is still persistent about his choice.His place was replaced by his best friend,Gary.Gary promised him that he would win the match for him.Indeed,Gary did keep his promise.
